The British version of Big Brother is the longest running in the
world (already in its ninth series) and one of the most popular. Hosted
by Davina McCall, it proved to be an instant ratings winner for Channel
4. The show got itself into trouble by allowing the racist bullying of
Shilpa Shetty by housemates Jade Goody, Jo O'Meara and Danielle Lloyd
in Celebrity Big Brother 2006 but won praise for acting swiftly to
kick out housemate Emily Parr when she used an offensive racist term
